How to use this template:
Section 1

The introduction to your research paper needs to have both a “hook” and a research question. The first paragraph of your research paper should help your reader to understand why your topic is meaningful or important. 

Introduction

Hook: It is fascinating to think that [state a unique fact or mystery related to your research subject].

 

Thesis: Researchers into [my subject] have consistently found that [state thesis,] a finding with extensive evidence 

 

Section 2

In this paragraph, you introduce a first piece of research you found which provides further information pertaining to your research question. 

First Claim Paragraph

One theory holds that [My Thesis] is true on the basis of well-documented [statistics/experiments/studies]. This theory focuses on the fact that [give a piece of factual or statistical evidence.]

Section 3

In this paragraph, you introduce a second piece of research you found which provides further information to answer your topic question.

Second Claim Paragraph

A second theory explains that [My Thesis] is evident when considering [give a piece of factual or statistical research related to your second claim].

 

Section 4

In this paragraph, you introduce a third piece of research you found which provides further information to answer your topic question.

Third Claim Paragaph

Another researcher’s body of work also supports [My Thesis]. In [name of researcher/author’s] publication, [name of published book or study,] the subject was studied in great detail. [Here, paraphrase the findings that support your third claim.]

 

Section 5

In this paragraph, you introduce a fourth piece of research you found which provides further information to answer your topic question. You may wish to choose a piece of research that provides a much different perspective on the issue. 

Fourth Claim Paragraph

In [his/her] publication [name book or study,] the author [name of author] describes the impact of [My Research Topic] on [science/culture/academics]. [He/she writes “[direct quote from publication that supports your fourth claim.]

 

Section 6

The closing statement needs to address the research question and provide final evidence to wrap up any loose ends. The conclusion must give a sense of why the issue is relevant or important. 

Closing Statement

Overall, there are several key theories that support [My Thesis.] There are also many secondary sources regarding [My Research Topic] that further prove [My Thesis,]
